Post LigHTTPD - With easy php package
Hey,

I wanted to install lighttpd with php and find it hard to find good information about how to install php in it. So i recreated the lighttpd package with the following changes:
Quote:
* Sun Aug 26 2007 Markg85 <markg85@gmail.com> 1.4.16-4
- Specfile adjusted
- added lighttpd.conf
- added added_by_rpms.conf

Basically meaning that i allow other rpm packages to install modules in lighttpd.. sounds hard but isn't hard at all.
simple sample: if you wanted php in lighttpd than you had to edit the configuration files assuming you could even find what you need to edit and how. this package takes that step away and simply by typing: "yum -y install lighttpd-php" you will in stall lighttpd with php support build in. Now that this begin is being done it's not hard anymore to make the same for Python or perl or ruby.. just to name a few.

My rpm repository is still not online yet but you can download the packages here:

RPM Packages:
RPM's (x86): Link
Source RPM's: Link

How to install?
1. Click in the rpm's link
2. Download all the files except: "lighttpd-mod_mysql" (unless you want to have that aswell)
3. login on your machine as root and go to the place where you downloaded the files
4. run this: yum -y install php; rpm -ivh lighttpd-1.4.16-4.fc8.i386.rpm lighttpd-fastcgi-1.4.16-4.fc8.i386.rpm lighttpd-php-0.1-1.fc8.noarch.rpm
5. go to: http://localhost

There you have LigHTTPD with php enabled :) you can now upload your files in: "/srv/www/lighttpd" and they can be used on your localhost address.

Good luck.

NOTE: The packages are stored there till the repository is big enough to put online.
